MacArthur "Mac" Coffin II Scholarship

The MacArthur “Mac” Coffin II Scholarship Foundation was created in 2023 to honor Mac’s namesake and dedication to the building trades and construction industry in Southeast Iowa. This scholarship will live on in the next generation of individuals seeking a future in the building and construction trades industry as well as the related fields and will assist those applying for higher education to build a future in the building trades.

The foundation was created as a way to grow and expand what Mac provided to our community as well as his vision for the future. Through generous donations, our goal is to provide construction leaders, trades people, and related support staff financial support for their journey to a successful and prosperous career in and around our community. Your support of the foundation will help us in grow the impact and help secure the vision Mac strived for. Individuals interested in financial assistance will apply to the MacArthur “Mac” Coffin II Scholarship Foundation, in which a panel of the Directors and Committee Members will determine the awardees of the scholarship. The Directors and Committee Members will then distribute such assistance according to the Fund’s available revenues.

If I am awarded a MacArthur Coffin II Foundation Scholarship, and do not complete the first semester of study, I agree to refund the scholarship money (extenuating circumstances may be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee). Additionally, I hereby authorize the MacArthur Coffin II Foundation to use my name, photograph, and any information submitted to them by me in any news releases, publications, or their web site.

A one to two page essay explaining the following: (1) Why do you feel you are worthy of this scholarship? (2) What are your current goals? (3) What are your future goals/plans? (4) How would you best represent MCF as a scholarship recipient? (5) Are your plans after college to stay in the southeast Iowa area? (6) What interests you most about the construction industry? (7) Will you be working part time while attending college classes? (8) Do you plan to attend any MCF functions throughout the year? (9) Describe how this scholarship will assist you in meeting your career/education goals.

Photographs of any projects you have worked on relating to the construction industry (not mandatory, but helpful).

Renewal applicants may qualify for additional scholarship funds for additional years per Mac Coffin Board discretion.

Application deadline is March 1, 2026 (Must be postmarked by this date – late applications will not be accepted)
